Hello people!

I have been reading your work and thought you might be able to help me...

I developed my very first vb 4.0/access 2.0 app using crystal 5 report last summer...I
was quite proud of myself...nothing big, just some data manipulation..but still...

anyways, I used the crystal control for the reports...I have installed this app on
various machines and it worked..

I now have to install it on some other pcs that have the exact same setup...I have not
done any modifications to the app since my first install, but yet I get:
'An Error Occurred While Registering The File C:\Windows\System\CRYSTL16.OCX'

I have created the distribution files again using the vb setup wizard, but still the
same error...

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, I will gladly implement them...as long as is not
throwing the pcs out of the windows, which have been crossing my mind more often these
days...

Thanks

Yaneth

Yaneth ,
I suspect that the problem that you are having is due to some support DLL
files that the OCX is looking for on a target system. I work for a third
party custom control developer and we get that all the time. The reason that
it is just showing now is probably because whatever the offending file(s) is
has probably always been on the target systems in the past. And if you have
it in on your development machine, you probably never even realized that you
needed them for the OCX and therefore did not think to distribute them. My
suggestion to you would be the following... First, try to manually register
the OCX on a target machine with REGSVR.EXE. If that fails, then I would
suggest that you might to contact the OCX's developers and ask them what
Microsoft DLL files are being used by the control.

Good luck!!
Dave

Hello Dave,

You were right...I was missing the MFCOLEUI.DLL file...

It installs without a problem now...so I can go back to being proud!..

Thanks a lot..
