Can't Install VB6 under Win XP

Hi,

I am trying to install VB6 (actually, all of VS6) under Windows XP
Home SP2. The autorun for the CD comes up, I click through the
boxes. ACMSETUP starts and has me confirm name, company, and product
ID number. Then it goes to the next screen, "Setup is searching for
installed components...", which blinks once after a couple seconds and
comes back up, and then it hangs.

That's mostly the issue I'm having.

On a side note, I try running the demo VB6.exe from the CD and get an
error "Unexpected error; quitting" which shuts that whole mess down.
A MS fix included something about two DLLs missing, which I replaced,
but that still occurs. So that tells me that, if I get VB to install,
that may shoot me down. That would be very bad news as well.

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Much obliged,
- Steve.

Just a thought, but you are installing this under an admin
account?
