Excel Automation Library using VB / VB .NET

I would like to build a Excel Automation library to call Standard functions
of Excel from Visual Basic program.
The standard functions could be Starting Excel with Opening a excel file, i
will just call this function and pass a file name.
OR
If i want to make a Cell Bold, Underline, Set Font Size, i will call a
function with input parameter
Cell (example R1C1) and formatting parameters.

This library should be resusable and easily changeable.

I know i can create a DLL in VB6 to acheive this kind of task which i have
done about 4-5 years back. I am not a expert Visual Basic programmer but in
past few years with technology changing there might be a better way of
acheiving this which i dont know.

If anybody have suggestions or product please get me know.
