I have heard that there are pitfalls to overcome when installing VB6.0
on Vista. The installer tells me that there are compatibility issues,
but not how to overcome them. Anyone know what they are and what to do
about them?

All my previous installs have been on Win98, 2K, and XP Pro.

Nothing too treacherous...

OK Karl. I should have known you'd have put out something like that and
looked harder for it. Nice to see you are still here. Been a while
since I've checked this NG.

Since I have SP6, it appears that patching is a bit easier than
'patching the patch' for SP5.

Cheers,

Yeah, been a *long* time since I tried that, but that's my recollection too.

I'd say, "Have fun!", but, well... ;-)

Yeah, I know what you mean. My only holdout for VB6 vice VB.NET insists
on putting my creations on his Vista machine and doesn't like the "this
DLL is older than this DLL" messages. I can't budge him. <sigh>

Heh, well, it was Vista I was sympathizing with, dontchaknow? ;-)

I'd tell him to upgrade to either XP or w7, myself.
