Thank you for your reply.
I think the problem is associated with the version of the VB6 installed.
This is a "working model"version , without any help or Msdn files. This
version come with the Sams book.
I have got a full version at work and do not have any problems with that,
but a wanted a legal version for home, so that I could learn, without paying
the £800.00 required for the full version.
I have seen that there is a student/teacher version for £89.00, what is
missing from this version?

Probably nothing.
If it's like the "academic version" I checked out at the campus store while
teaching at DeAnza, the only thing it doesn't give you is the license to
develop apps for redistribution/profit/business uses. All the tools are present.
Seems ideal for your stated use.
