I have entered all my data into MOA 2008 but I have 2 financial years for
some reason (01/03/2009 to 31/12/2009) and 01/01/10 to 28/02/11)
my financial years are 01/03/2009 to 28/02/2010 and 01/03/10 to 29/02/11.

I have entered all my data and obviously did not realise the importance of
these finacial years at setup. I am now it would seem stumped as I have
spent days enetering last years data and I now cannot send my financial yr
accounts to the accountant. Can anyone help to edit the financial year once
transactions have been put in, no matter what I did I cannot sort it and now
not sure If I have completely wasted my time.

Help and advice appreciated. PS I am not very computer literate so please
dont be technical in your reply

Thanks
Clare

No problems. You can edit the Accounting Period by going to:

* On the Company menu, click Manage Financial Year.
{ Please Note that you can only change the end date of the financial
year if you have not entered transactions after the new end date}

* Select the financial year period you want to edit.
{ If the list of periods contains three or more entries, you can edit
only the first and last financial years in the list}

* Click Edit Financial Year.

* Click OK.

Hi I have tried that but it still wont let me edit. I do have a few
transactions in after my financial yr end which was 28/02/10 but not many.
The earliest date it will let me put as a finacial yr end is 01/05/10. It
does not get away from the problem that I have 2 financial yrs showing for
the perid that should really be one financial yr.

my financial year should be 01/03/09 to 28/02/10 and its showing 01/03/2009
to 31/12/09 as one financial yr and then 01/01/10 to 1/05/10 (this is the
only date i can edit as long as its after 1/5/10.

Do you have any other suggestions.

My only other thought is to start a new company and try and save all the
reports as excel documents and import them but not sure if I will loose a lot
of information this way. Tried to do a company rebuild but it still picks up
those daft financial tears so that doesnt resolve it either.

many thanks

Hi,

The only workaround at this point would be to create a new company and
before you begin to enter date, setup your fiscal years to dates that you
would like to use for your fiscal year. On the Company menu, click Manage
Financial Year, setup your years and begin to enter your data.

Once you have entered data into the system (even if you void the data) the
application will not allow you make changes to those fiscal years the way you
desire.

With MOA 2009 SP3, there is new feature in the create company wizard that
calls out to make your fiscal years which I am guessing is to avoid the
problem that you described.

Yes, create a new company is probably a good approach for a non-techy. A
more techy-solution involves a simple (1 minute of work) sql UPDATE to the
FiscalYearTable. Maybe Mamut empathize the users pain by create a quick util
for changing fiscal period and default currency.

Hi
Thanks MOA_Guy and Flexdog for your help and advice. I will see if we can
do as you suggested. Many many thanks. I will be so relieved if I can sort
it out.
