Hi
Research has brought to light that a common issue is dual-booting to xp,
produces this issue, but I dont have a dual-boot system.
Maybe,maybe not:
Heres why.
I had xp running, got Laplink proggie to transfer all my programs into a
win7 upgrade which it did fine, but win7 was totally buggy and slow,so wiped
that.
(the sentence above for info only-since I wiped the drive it's not part of
current issue)
XP image back on and did win7 install(CUSTOM),and xp porgram files and
windows folder got renamed to windows.old
I transferred as many xp programs to win7 program folders as would work, and
got virtual pc mode to work fine.

However, the restore points keep dissappearing on each restart.
Sofar I have not found a solution.
Any ideas?

Thanx/Peter

Hi

I want to say how this was resolved.
I am not happy with the solution but it worked.

I increased the restore point real estate gradually from 10% up to 46gb and
it was still losing restore points.
I looked at my c drive and saw it was using 48gb, so I increased restore
area to 56gb and now the restore points remain after a restart.

I had just recently bought a larger hard drive to now throw away 50gb, this
really hurts !

I suppose I will gradually reduce the area for restore points until it stops
working.

One thing to notre though, is that there was a phantom c drive in the System
Protection window tab, which was not there previously.
I managed to delete when I clicked Turn off system protection.

It was after this and the increase in real estate that the restore point
remained.

Baffled at how the solution came about, but glad to have restore points again.

Rgds/Pete
