It seems like several years ago I read an article about how Windows
handles
the threading of disk IO. It suggested that disk access via drive
letters was
faster than mount a volume as a folder under a drive letter.

We have a server is the recipient of disk-to-disk backups, and we have
three
storage volumes mounted as separate drive letters, and then we have
three
more that are mounted as folders under a single drive letter.

I'm looking for documentation that would describe how Windows handles
IO,
especially the performance of drive letters versus mount points under
a drive
letter, etc.

Thanks in advance!!!
