understanding use of WUDSS 2003

I have a file server that I'm trying to put in place for a handful of
people, but not exactly sure how to best set it up. Right now, it's
currently running Winidows Unified Data Storage Server 2003.
Can someone breifly explain how this should be put in use, or best used
for, I'm assuming "file storage" for just a handful of people that said
they needed this file server? They're running a mix of XP and OS X. How
do people normally interface with this and use it. It's an NX1950 from Dell.
