Hi,

I'm hoping that someone on the group will have some ideas on how to
resolve this issue.

I've got a database backup taken on one server and trying to restore
it on another. On the source server the database had grown very large
in terms of file size but backs up relatively small. When I try to
restore this it tries to produce mdf and ldf files the same size as
were on the source server. The hard drive is not nearly big enough.
Is there any way to restore this database in a shrunken/truncated
fashion?

Just as a further note, we've got the database backup but no longer
have access to the source server. We are trying to get this backup
onto our server. Shrinking first would have been a good idea. Any
tricks?

If you have an external hard drive you could restore it onto that
