I need some tool(s) for MSDE administration that I can redistribute with my
applications.

Tools like the Query Analyzer or Enterprise Manager would be nice. Does
anyone know the licensing issues regarding redistribution of these tools
with MSDE?
Or, are there similar tools available that can be redistributed with MSDE
applications (i.e. with liberal redistribution licensing)?

Arnold,

You need a valid license for each machine that you would install QA and
EM on since they are not included with MSDE. Although MSDE is free, the
tools are not. There isn't anything out there that I know of that will do
what EM or QA does for free. If your going to distribute MSDE to sites where
they need these tools to function, I would suggest just buying SQL licenses
and for get about MSDE.

Thanks for the info everyone!

After reviewing the information and licensing issues, my company will need
our own administrative application. Fortunately, because of the turn-key
nature of our systems, this probably won't be too much to do. It would have
been nice if there were minimal tools for MSDE administration - reminds me
of Btrieve.

hi Arnold,
you can acquire a client license of Sql7, which includes EM and QA, or you
can write your own using DMO...(my vb6+sql-dmo little try to provide M$ MSDE a visual interface) ver 0.0.12

But owning a licence for EM and QA does not entitle you to redist them.
Check the redist.txt on the cd.
