registry error setting ConfigurationState to SQL_Browser_Redist

Last year I ran into similar trouble installing SQL Server 2008 and this
newsgroup fixed my problem (had to grant permissions on some registry item).
This year my machine's been replaced and I have a new problem. I'm hoping
you guys can help me again.

I've resolved the issue with help from Microsoft, using my MSDN support
incident. It seems that granting write access to local admins to the
registry item KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\WMI\Security
did the trick. Is actually the exact same fix as the issue I had last year,
even though the error messages were different. In particular, this time the
error message didn't mention that registry key. Nevertheless, I guess I
should have tried that first.
