I've installed SQL 2005 on a Windows 2003 server and the Analsysis Services
fails to start - here are the entries in the event log:
1:
The description for Event ID ( 424 ) in Source ( MSSQLServerOLAPService )
cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry
information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer.
You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description;
see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the
event: Message-handling subsystem: The message manager for the default
locale cannot be found. The locale will be changed to US English.

2:
Errors in the metadata manager. An error occurred when instantiating a

I have this same issue. In my mssql.2 folder I only have two folders (OLAP &
Reporting Services), no Data Folder. Any suggestions for how to proceed?
