I did create another user with admin rights but still the same problem. I
tried to download just the SQL 2005 Express program itself from sqlexpr.exe
and still got the same access denied message Error Code: 0x80070005 (5). The
system config check passed with all in the green. I thought I may be missing
something simple. Looking for Zebra’s and not horses.
Does the location and way the .exe file extracts have anything to do with the
access denied issue?

What should I check first?
Any help would be appreciated.

Streamed sqlca.3EA9D9BF_D9D2_4023_B2A7_9E2137B2FB1B to C:\Program
Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\bin\{54C2B4E9-DD13-4AA4-
B09A-A6EF68F9359A}sqlca.dll
So that should be the file/directory that does not work.
Just before this section I found in my log:
MSI (s) (DC:74) [20:41:14:798]: Invoking remote custom action. DLL:
C:\Windows\Installer\MSI85CB.tmp, Entrypoint: StreamSupportFiles
MSI (s) (DC:78) [20:41:14:798]: Generating random cookie.
MSI (s) (DC:78) [20:41:14:814]: Created Custom Action Server with PID 3820 (0xEEC).
MSI (s) (DC:F4) [20:41:14:830]: Running as a service.
MSI (s) (DC:04) [20:41:14:831]: Hello, I'm your 64bit Impersonated custom action server.
The thought I get is that this part may be run by the Windows Installer
service, and its service account does for some reason not have appropriate
privileges.
But it could also be something with that even you are an admin, you cannot
not access the Setup Bootstrap\bin\ directory. Yet an alternative is that
files are already there, but are in use and therefor cannot be overwritten.
