Hi. I am trying to install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition CTP September
2005. But my computer tells me:"SQL Server 2005 Setup has detected
incompatible components from beta versions of Visual Studio .NET Framework,
or SQL Server 2005. Use Add or Remove Programs to remove these components,
and then run SQL Server 2005 Setup again. ".

So I removed all the VS Beta 2 by Visual Studio 2005 previous beta removal
tool, and then uninstall the .NET framework 2.0 Beta 2 manually according to
these steps which were posted on the
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2005/04/16/408856.aspx.

And then I started to install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition CTP September
2005 again, and this time my computer tells me:"The Microsoft .Net Framework
2.0 is not installed. Please install before running setup.". So I installed
.NET framework 2.0 Beta 2(x86) first, and then I tried to set up SQL Server
2005 Express Edition CTP September 2005 again, but it told me "SQL Server
2005 Setup has detected incompatible components from beta versions of Visual
Studio .NET Framework, or SQL Server 2005..." again.

Now I have no idea about the installation of SQL Server 2005 Sepetember.
Please tell me how to success to install it. Thank you!

My operating system is Wind XP professional.

Had the same problem, comes from the fact that the June? version of SQL
Express uses a higher version (.312) of the 2.0 framework most likely (.45)
that you are using.

Had the same problem myself, check this site on the method to fix it
(including a link to the newer version of the 2.0 framework)...

Goodluck.

Michael,

You're close. June CTP used .NET 2.0.50215 and September CTP uses
2.0.50727. The latter is newer. You can't install September CTP on
.NET 2.0.50215.

Michael, thank you. I successed in installing SQL 2005 June under the .NET
Framework(.312). But whether .312 or .45, SQL 2005 September cant be
installed successfully. My computer still told me:
"SQL Server 2005 Setup has detected
> > incompatible components from beta versions of Visual Studio .NET
> > Framework,
> > or SQL Server 2005. Use Add or Remove Programs to remove these components,
> > and then run SQL Server 2005 Setup again. "

Hope to find the way.

Hi,

To install June CTP you need .NET Framework 2.0.50215.

To install September CTP you need .NET 2.0.50727.

You can't install June CTP and September CTP together. When you try to
install September CTP the installer detects 2.0.50215 and that gives
the error message you are seeing.

If you want to install September CTP then you need to uninstall
components relating to earlier builds. Before starting the uninstall,
CAREFULLY read the uninstall instructions. Uninstall order is very
important.

Hi

I have had the same problem.
The solution was to uninstall old versions with this tool:
