Hello:

Well, I downloaded it. I think I installed it right, but I do
not know enough to be sure. Now, what?

Can someone please point me to what I need to study to get going?
I do not want a huge list as much as I want a map. What should I
study first?

Sincerely,

Gene Wirchenko

The first question would be - What do you want to do with it since you
installed it?

A place to get started is to look at Books On Line -
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms130214.aspx
This is the documentation for SQL Server and might not really be the best
place to start, but since we don't know what you want to know it's a start.
Otherwise you can Google for SQL 2008 books and find some books that covers
what you'd like to know.

I have an existing app written in Visual FoxPro. We are looking
at migrating the database to SQL Server for more access by other apps.

First, I would like to read the first book about SQL
Server/Express.

Well, no. I do not know SQL Server/Express so have no way to
evaluate them.
