We have sqlserver 2005 running on a domain controller.

How can we give a user rights to access/manage the sqlserver without them
having any access to change/view things on the domain controller?

Thanks

You should give access or permision to specific user on management
studio of sql server.

You don't give access to Management Studio via AD. You can use Managemenst
Studio to grant specific AD users and/or AD Groups access to administrer the
SQL instance. You can either give the user/group full sysadmin right to the
SQL instance or you can be more granular and then only give them access to
certain things. They can then access the SQL Instance from a locally
installed Management Studio.
It's also possible to give them access to just RDP to the server and then
run Management Studio on the server itself, but depending on what oyu want
to deny them from doing it might be a bigger task to lock stuff down on the
server.

When you say you want to give them "rights to access/manage the sqlserver",
what is it you want them to be able to do?
