I just bought a Laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium edition on it and
installed SQLServer 2008. I was not able to get the Reporting Services
configured on a Windows Vista Home Premium edition because of the Windows
Authentication.

Does Windows 7 Home Premium edition have the same problem too.

I looked at a list of OS's that are supposed to work and 7 Home Premium as
well as Vista Home Premium are supported. Says you need SP1 installed with
SQL 2008.

I have RS 2008 SP1 running on 7 Professional version.

When you say it doesn't work because of Windows Authentication what do you
mean by that. The only issue I have had was the problem of the extra
security with Windows 7 where you are not running as admin if when logged in
as admin and I had to run IE as Administrator to get it to work properly.

I'm referring to a similar problem in Windows 7 Home Premium since it does
not have IIS7.

RS 2008 does not use and is not dependent on IIS. So totally ignore that.
There has been a big architectural change between 2005 and 2008.

Vista Home Premium _DOES_ include IIS7.

Nice try.

Aaron,

Turns out it doesn't matter about IIS one way or the other since RS 2008
does not use it at all. It will coexist with it but unlike RS 2000 and RS
2005 it is not dependent on it (Yeah!!).
