Removing Deadlock from a replication dbase ??

Hello everybody,
We have a replication server and Backup server NT4.0 with SQL 6.5 (SP4)
And are using this configuration purely for a primary-server system crash.
However when testing the 'thing' by removing the network cable from
the main server, the backupserver has exclusive extend locks and is
extremely slow.
The manual says, when you are a SA these locks can be killed.
We Log on with the enterprice manager using sa to the backup dbase ,
selecting the current-activity for the backup dbase, but whatever we do
we can't get the locks removed.
Is there anybody with an answer?
