Agents will not run from Enterprise Manager

I am attempting to use merge replication between two WindowsNT machines both
running SQL7.

I set up the publication and the subscription with no trouble, but the
snapshot agent did not run at the completion. Using the Replication Monitor
I attempted to run the agent using the right mouse-menu and Start, but
nothing appears to happen, and the status remains "Never Started." The same
is true for the Merge Agent.

Following the suggestion in KNV's message of 2/21, I ran the agents by
invoking the .exe's from the command prompt. By pasting in the arguments
that appear under the Steps in the Snapshot and Merge Properties, the
commands executed perfectly and the merge was accomplished.

However, the problem still exists that the agents do not run as scheduled or
upon request from within the Enterprise Manager.

Any suggestions?

After manually running the agent from Enterprise Manager, did you check the
history of the agent? See if the history is showing any information. It
could be a UI problem which can be solved the refreshing.
