SQL 2000 Replication Setup

Good Afternoon,
I am attempting to setup replication in a snapshot
environment between SQL servers running on two different
domains. In attempts to configure the
Publisher/Distributor on the same SQL system, I recieve a
setup error #18483 - Could not connect to server 'x'
because 'distributor_admin' is not defined as a remote
login at the server'. Hoping someone can offer some much
needed advice.

I am also interested in exploring the plus/minus of using
snapshot replication as a means to duplicating a database
for backup purposes. If anyone has experience in this
area, I would appreciate your comments.
