SQL server on virtual machine on network

I can ping the server, but I do not see the SQL server from Management
Studio although through RDP I can connect to it and work directly on
the server. Furthermore, I cannot create an ODBC driver to access data
from it. Could I have some clues how to solve this? Thank You
