Situation: Windows 95, Access 7.0, SQL Server 6.5 on Windows NT 4.0.

I'm trying to connect using ODBC; when I do so, I get the following
error:
Connection Failed
SQL State '01000'
SQL Server Error 11
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][dbmsspxn]Connection Open
(AttachtoFileServer())
Connect Failed
SQL State '08001'
SQL Server Erro 6
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][dbmsspxn]Specified SQL Server Not
found

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong - can anyone out there assist
me? Thanks so much for the help...

Did you define a datasource? The name of the SQL Server is correctly
registered into it? If these two questions have affirmative answers: Can
you ping the SQL Server computer? Try this using the odbcping utility
coming with SQL Server (odbcping /? gives you the valid options).

I'm having the SAME EXACT PROBLEM trying to use Visual Foxpro and
ODBC. I have no trouble using ODBC with the server on my local network
but cannot access my server on the NET. I am able to access the SQL
server over the net using SQL/W with no problems. I can only assume I
am entereing the ODBC information incorrectly.

I am using the 32 bit ODBC Setup.
I am selecting Add a new USER DSN.
I Select SQL server as the new DSN
For the Data Source Name I am entereing Testpub
Description L Test to access the Server

ServerK Here I am putting the URL of my server (I have also tried the
IP here with no success)

Network Address: I left this as (Default) but I have also tried the IP

Network Library: I have left this as (Default)

Under Options:
Database Name: Pubs

I am getting the exact same message as below.

What am I doing wrong?

I have TCP/IP set up as the default network Library on both sides!
I am able to access the Server OK with SQL/W

Do I need to set up a system DSN?
Have I missed a step?

The documentation is really non existant for TCP/IP Clent ODBC Setup
as far as what should be entered in these fields.
