When my client VB application connects to a SQL 2K Server w/SP2, it gets
this message when doing basic select or updates. I have run ODBC traces
on the client machine but the logs show no unusual activity. Anyone
have any suggestions. All the clients are running MDAC 2.5 on W2K
Professional.

Run a profiler trace to capture the statements and plan to analyze them.
Your queries etc are taking more than the configured timeout. You can of
course increase the timeout value.
