We have SQL 2008 64-bit running on Windows 2003 R2 64-bit. It is setup as an
Active/Active cluster. On the secondary(less used) node, SQL will restart 3
or 4 times a day. No warnings in the Event Log or SQL log. In the Event
Log, the message is categorized as a Failover message. However, it doesn't
fully failover to the other node. In a couple of minutes, it is back up and
running and everything looks fine. However, during these two minutes, as you
can imagine, everything goes haywire and support phones start to ringing :)
Here is the error in Event viewer: CheckQueryProcessorAlive: sqlexecdirect
failed. Anyone seen this in SQL 2008?

This is the cluster noticing that the SQL instance is not responding within
the allowed time. This is categorized as a cluster failure event. The
first step Clustering takes is to try and restart the resource on the same
node. You need to find out why SQL has quit responding in order to fix this
problem.
