I don't know if this group can help, becuase I don't know if the problem is
with SQL Server, Windows or Access. I am hoping someone can identify the
problem and lead me to a solution.
This is Access 2000, Windows 2000 Server, and Possible SQL Server 2000 or
close to that year. The Access Database has been having occasional issues
with linked SQL Server tables where the connection seems to be broken and
the Form controls display #Name. Refreshing the links or closing and
opening the Database usually fixes this. Also when adding new fields, I
have had to refresh the links to prevent the #Name problem. Somehow I think
the ODBC connection gets disturbed, but not sure how or why.
Recently I added fields to two tables. Then I refreshed the table links.
This cause another issue with one of the tables. When trying to update a
field, a Write conflict message appears and the update is undone. So the
table cannot be update either directly or through a form. I opened a backup
copy and this problem didn't occur until I refreshed the table.
Even though you may not be familiar with Access, you may have an idea of why
the connection gets disrupted and that may solve it all.
Thank you for any input and God Bless,
Mark A. Sam

However in my case, in addition to need to set a default value for the bit
type fields, I had to set the [Allow Null Values] property to False.
