Help! Volume Control issue that affects XP only

I have a problem with XP and the SAPI engine.

This problem only affects XP. It does not happen in Vista or Win 7.

Problem is that once my program loads the Speech Recognition, it
automatically resets the user's microphone input volume slider to full
Maximum.

Here's a before and after screen shot:

Before SAPI loaded by my app:

Immediately after SAPI is loaded by my App:

Again, this only happen in XP.

Any ideas?
