I see that info on SAPI 5.3 is now available through the latest Windows SDK
docs here:
http://windowssdk.msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/SAPI53/html/Welcome.asp
but I can't seem to find any links to download the SAPI 5.3 SDK - is it
going made available for download like the 5.1 SDK?
Also, will the 5.3 SDK include the v7.0 recognition engine, and the new TTS
voice included with the Windows Vista betas?
Cheers,
Dan
I don't know for sure if an SDK or redists will be available.

Thanks for the info. I just noticed on the SAPI 5.3 system requirements
page that NT, 98, ME, 2000, XP are supported:
I realise that this info probably hasn't been updated yet, but I'm hopeful!
It would be fantastic to have 5.3 available for previous versions of
Windows, as it would save us from having to maintain different versions of
our speech apps for the new and old releases.
It's a shame that SAPI doesn't get as much attention as it deserves because
it's a really nice API - especially the new SML additions in 5.3. I'd like
to see the downloadable SDK updated with latest recognition engine and
voices, as the older components are starting to look dated e.g. the old
robotic MS Sam voice. These old components are neither doing your tech
justice nor giving the SAPI team the credit they rightly deserve. You
should be pushing out your latest bits instead of restricting it to certain
releases e.g. only releasing the 6.1 recognizer with Office - what was all
that about? Don't wait for Vista in late 2006, get it out now! :-)
Cheers,
Dan

SAPI 5.3 is available on Windows Vista only. There are currently no plans
to provide a redist for other OSes. And there is no current plan to produce
a full SDK for SAPI 5.3 ala the SAPI 5.1 SDK.
Thanks for the praise for SAPI5. I agree! ^_^
I worked on SAPI 5.0 and 5.1, but am now working on MSS-related projects.
Although I still like to support SAPI5 users when I can.
