Firstly i have lot of confusion and the way the technologies are named.

We have 2 parallel technologies not sure??
1)Office communication server 2007
2) Office communication Speech server 2007

Our requirement is to build an IVR , to record the Prompt responses from the
caller. Not sure the path we followed was right or wrong

We have setup 3 servers to setup OCS 2007
1) Domain controller
2)OCS front end(Enterprise )
3)Mediation server
4) We have client as offiice communicator

Our switch sends us SIP invites to Mediation server, when someone calls to a
specific number. We are able to successfullly hear the ringtone on office
communicator.

Now the question here is we need to plug in the Speech part of it. After
reasearching , we found that we have to use OCS 2007 speech server .

we got the download from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=bb183640-4b8f-4828-80c9-e83c3b2e7a2c&displaylang=en

Not sure whether it is a trial or the production version.

Issues/Questions

1) We cannot install OCS speech server on the same server as OCS 2007.
2) Is it like only Speech server is enough to connect to a soft switch to
recieve incoming calls and record Prompt response from the end client
and all the setup of OCS 2007 is NOT required?
3) How are these 2 technologies connected (OCS 2007 & OCS speech server)

The full names are actually.
Microsoft Office Communication Server 2007 and
Microsoft Office Communication Server 2007 Speech Server.

You downloaded the developer edition which has a license restricting what
you are allowed to use it for.

1. Correct, Speech Server & OCS 2007 are completely separate.

2. Yes, Speech Server is completelly stand alone and does not require OCS
2007. The included help file has various configuraiton options to help with
your planning e.g. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb801765.aspx

3. Can you be more specific with respect to what you want to know?

Thanks ahmed,

We are trying to build an IVR system.A toll free number will be redirected
to the
IVR (speech server) and all the responses from the caller will be stored in
the database.

Looks like we went in wrong path, we installed the whole OCS (Front end &
mediatio server) and were able to get incoming calls to office communicator.

We thought that ,we will have to configure the OCS front end to redirect
the call to
Speech server. We were following michael dunns article

http://blogs.msdn.com/midunn/archive/2008/06/17/integrating-speech-server-with-office-communications-server.aspx

So as per you we dont need the complete layer of OCS front end and mediation
server and directly configure speech server to listen on SIP invite messages
from media gateway

Michael's post shows how to connecting Speech Server to a OCS topology if you
choose to do so.

The Speech Server documentation doesn't mention this becaue it's not
necessary.

Did you look at the docs for Speech Server during your investigation phase
to find out what the requirements were?

I have done little reasearch, was not knowing hoe to intercept the incoming
call.

I know hoe to do it using OCS mediation server/Front end.

Now i am trying using speech server only.I have specified the Speed peers IP
address of the media gateway.

This media gateway is sending us SIP invites on TCP. How do we test this
incoming call using a Voice project in Speech server? likwe i was able to use
communicator before using OCS.

Thaks for your quick responses.

There is a simple app that is installed by default that plays a prompt after
answering incoming calls.

Once you place a call to Speech Server, it should connect and you should
hear the prompt.

The help file also has a lot of information including sample walkthroughs.

There is also a lot of startup information already in the forums at
gotspeech.net, searching there should yield a lot of information.

Hi Ahmed,

Iam trying the basic OCS welcome sample applicaiton. I have got everything
configured correctly. I tried with the voicexml sample application as well.

I can see the trace of call coming to the server over TCP, but not sure
,whether it is picked up by the Speech server.

I don't hear any prompts on the phone .

Thank you for your help

Do the Speech Server or event logs show any indication that a call was
received and any related errors?

No nothing,

I used wireshark to determine, whether the calling hitting the sever

Looks like the sppech server is not picking up anything

Thanks

If there's nothing in the Speech Server logs then I don't think it received
the call.

When you called via the phone, was it answered?

Have you searched the forums at the website I mentioned?

it is not answered. It just remains silent, after 2 minutes are so, it gets
disconnected.

I have configured the ip address of my gateway as a trusted sip peer

There is one thing i think about, We dont have audio on the
test machine, but at least it should log somewhere.

I have installed SIPxPhone, iam recieving the call on the SIp xphone

Is there a possiblity i can explain you my configuration over phone?

Hi Ahmed,

we have installed sipx phone, we are able to see the call on the sipxphone.

I have researched the websites, you have sent ,butno luck.

I have added the media gateway ip address as the trusted sip peer.

1) We have devloper version of the Speech server
2) WE done have audio on the test machine.

Please suggest, is there a possibility of calling you and discuss about our
configuration

Have you enabled Speech Server trace logging? Does that show that the Speech
Server received the call?

Are you sure that the signaling being used by your gateway is TCP?

Hi ahmed,

Now iam seeing some trace , it is showing the phone numbers. It takes some
time to get the trace.

Please see the trace below. (425 number).

we didnt hear any prompts though, is it because of the sound not enabled on
h etest server.

Well that's working, are those all the trace logs, I believe there should be
more.

How long are you waiting before hanging up.

No, the machine running Speech Server does not need a sound card.

There is a lot more information in the log

It took some time to log the infomation in the log, after i ended the call.

If the machine running the speech server does not need a sound card, then we
have an issue of not hearing the prompts.

Does the sample OCS welcome managed application has some prompts?

Please suggest. Also thank you very much for all your help and in making
this setup up and running

Then you should look throught the remainder fo the entries to see if there
are any errors that owuld explain the lack of audio.

Do you heart the prompt when you call MSS with SipXPhone?

Pretty much all of the sample apps have at least one prompt.
