Recognition Accuracy. Windows Vista / 7 default recognizers.

Hello all.

Please tell me some tips on improving the accuracy of the Windows Vista and
7 Speech Recognizers ( Version 8.0).

I have an App for voice recognition, built my grammar on xml, and even i put
an high degree of confidence to accept a word from the grammar, it recognizes
and accepts rubbish.. like sometimes even a small cough will get me a word
result. As anyone experienced this?

As for the cough, there really is not that much you can do about this
because the speech recognizer is listening for sounds and trying to
interpret the sounds as words. There are several things you can do to
minimize problems. First of all if using a headset microphone, make
sure the microphone element is off the corner of your mouth and not in
front of it. This will minimize breath inhales and breath exhales as
being interpreted as words.

It also helps to use a good noise canceling microphone. We've found
that good noise canceling microphones provide better accuracy even in
quiet environments than poor noise canceling microphones. Any noises
picked up will be attempted to be decoded as words.
