I am developing with Access 2010 64-bit. I see that the Visual SourceSafe
2010 addin only supports the 32-bit edition of Access 2010. What does
Microsoft recomend for 64-bit Access developers?

Is there an Access 2010 addin that offers support for Microsoft Team
Foundation Server 2010?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hi John,

You may try SourceAnywhere for VSS, which is a remote access add-on
tool for SourceSafe.
http://www.dynamsoft.com/Products/SAW_Overview.aspx

Here you can see how to integrate SourceAnywhere for VSS with Access:

Thanks,

Ok. Thank you for the information. However, that VSS link you provided
talks about Access 2003 and Access 2007 (which are 32-bit environments). I
apologize if I was not clear in my original post. I am using Access 2010
64-bit. According to the following URL below, the VSS addin for Access 2010
only supports the 32-bit edition of Access 2010. I am using Access 2010
64-bit.

http://blogs.msdn.com/access/archive/2010/05/10/download-access-2010-runtime-database-engine-redistributable-and-source-code-control.aspx

My precise questions are as follows:

1. Does Microsoft intend to release a VSS addin designed to support the
latest Access 2010 64-bit edition?

2. If not, is there an Access 2010 addin that offers support for Microsoft
Team Foundation Server 2010?

3. If not, does Microsoft offer any solution for source control in Access
2010 64-bit? Is there anything planned for 64-bit Access development
environments?

4. I appreciate the information about SourceAnywhere. Do you know if that
supports the 64-bit edition of Microsoft Access 2010?

Thank you for the information.

Hi John,

I think SourceAnywhere should work with 64-bit Access 2010. I will do
some tests and get back to you.

Hi John,

I confirmed with our team and SourceAnywhere for VSS works with 64-bit
Access 2010.

Ok. Thank you for your extra efforts. We appreciate it. We may end up
doing that. But please confirm, does *Microsoft* intend to address this
need? The answer to this question is important to my company. The reason is
that we prefer to remain a Microsoft based shop if possible (especially since
we are accustomed to VSS). If it is a matter of waiting a year until
Microsoft addresses this need, parts of my company may be able to do that.
Please confirm this question:

Does *Microsoft* intend to release a VSS addin designed to support the
latest Access 2010 64-bit edition? If not, is there anything in the
pipeline from Microsoft?

Thanks.

Hi John,

I don't work for Microsoft so I'm not sure whether Microsoft has a
plan for this. You may contact the support of Microsoft and see.

SourceAnywhere for VSS is a VSS add-on tool recommended by Microsoft.
It can provide you fast and secure remote access to your VSS database
and also allows you to access your database from Linux, Mac etc.

You may have a try.

Thank you for your response. By contacting this forum, I thought that I
*was*contacting Microsoft. My mistake.

I am not interested in SourceAnywhere at this time because it is too
expensive, but thank you very much for mentioning it.
