Hi

Error 0x80070003 is

COR_E_DIRECTORYNOTFOUND
The specified path couldn't be found - ALLUSERSPROFILE Microsoft
network dir doesn’t exist

You receive error message 0x80070003 when you try to update Windows
from the Windows Update Web site
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=836949

When you attempt to update Windows XP from the Windows Update Web site,
you receive error 0x80070003?
http://www.jsiinc.com/SUBQ/tip8000/rh8024.htm

If the above doesn't fix your problem, try this as well:

If the directory "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Network"

does not exist, you will get this error.

%ALLUSERSPROFILE% is normally "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users"

To verify existence/create this folder, you can do like this:

Press Start/Run, and fill in this:

"%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft"

Press OK, and the Microsoft folder should open.

If you do not see a sub folder with the name "Network" there,
create it, using File\New --> Folder and then enter Network

If nothing of the above helps, try this:

Clean out the Download folder (WU5's temporary download folder)
located here:

%windir%\SoftwareDistribution\

(%windir% is typically C:\Windows)

You can use the procedure described here:

http://v5.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/v5consumer/showarticle.aspx?art...

You might need to delete the DataStore folder mentioned in the link
above, as well as the Download folder.

Hi

Arghh, the new beta Google newsgroup archive is messing it
up for me :-(

Trying again:

Clean out the Download folder (WU5's temporary download folder)
located here:

%windir%\SoftwareDistribution\

(%windir% is typically C:\Windows)

You can use the procedure described here:

Thanks, Got it that time. I looked at the steps outlined
and think I didn't state my question properly. I am
getting this error on a SUS server trying to sync the
cataloge so I can recieve the latest updates for
distribution. I did not have any of the mentioned
directories in the %sysdir% so I created them.

Hi

Ok, my suggestions was for client update issues. As they didn't
work out for you, I am out of ideas here now.

Hi Millette,
Can you post 'C:\inetpub\wwwroot\autoupdate\dictionaries\settings.txt'
Just want to check for CabPoolPath section in the settings.txt.
The CabPoolPath section should contain the path to the downloaded
patches (i.e.
Installation Drive:\SUS\content\cabs)
Post your results.

HTH,
Athif
