Windows updates automatically cancelled NT Authority\System

Hi

This is a general windows updates issue. i hope this is the correct forum..
I am struggling to resolve Event ID 16384 (source BITS). When I scan the
server via windows updates it presents the necessary updates, then whether I
choose manual or automatic options the updates fail and the following message
is generated in the System log:

"The Administrator NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM cancelled job "WU Client Download" on
behalf of DOMAIN\Username. The Job ID was {xxxxx...}

I have checked that BITs is running.This happens to the Local Admin or
Domain Admin. I can manually download the individual updates and install no
problem. No firewall issues suspected-other clients are sucessful with
windows updates. Scanned the server for spy ware and virus. None found.

Cannot trace anyone else who has suffered this... Has anyone any ideas
I am really lost with this. Any ideas appreciated.

I'm having this same exact problems with two of my Windows 2000
Servers. All my other servers and desktops are fine. Have you found
any information on this yet?

No solution as yet, I am considering paying Microsoft the £199 they want to
help me.
Will update this thread if I fing a solution or pay Microsoft.
