I tried to install SQL Server FOR 2005 Service Pack 3 but no luck. It's been
going on for many, many weeks now but it was always a failure.

Not sure if this is relevant, but I have encountered an unusual problem
using Windows 7 with my Sony Vaio. After using MS Picture Manager to crop a
photo (one of three examples) and saving the result, ALL my desktop icons
turned into MS Picture Manager ones. As a result, all my apps on the desktop
were disabled. I had to go to the recovery center to obtain a system restore
point, which ultimately fixed the problem. But is this glitch the result of
a patch which did noit install correctly, or a bug in said patch? Has anyone
else had a similar problem? I called GeekSquad, who told me that this has
happened to other people, and GeekSquad referred me to Microsoft, since it is
a software problem.
