Have a look in %winfir%\WindowsUpdate.log for errors or failure
messages.

My problem is a little different. My G/F was shown the XP SP3 download on
windows updates. She has Win XP Home Edition (Media Center). Me?....I go to
the update site and all I find is documentation on SP3. I am also smacked
with it being only for networks. If that is the case then why can my G/F get
it as a download on a standalone PC and I can't ????

My problem is different again. I can download SP3 & other updates but cannot
INSTALL them. No error codes, just reporting that "The following updates were
not installed" etc. Any clues please?
Besides these I have some corrupt files to clear up.

Downloaded the file separately, saved and ran it from the desktop and this
time got the message "Service Pack 3 Setup cannot update a checked (debug)
system with a free (retail) version of Service Pack 3, or vice versa."
What the??
Any hints or clues would be appreciated.
