Hi, I have written a script that backups up the COM.CFG file on
several SNA Servers. My problem is that the primary SNA Server COM.CFG
file will not backup, I assume this is because it is open so
FSO.COpyFile, Copy, Move etc will not work. I also tried calling a
batch file for that particular server, but that doesn't work either.

Could I run the script on the server itself?

Has anyone come across this problem before, if so, any workarounds, I
don't think I will be allowed to stop/start the server, that would be
the easiest way to do it, but if anyone can think of a way to do this
let me know.

Thanks

Eamonn

Eamonn - that's odd. I've not had an issue. What does the copy fail with?
Does someone have a config-lock on it?

Not too sure what that is, is the config not used all the time when
the SNA Server is running? How do I turn the lock off, the server
admin should be able to do that shouldn't they?

Try to make a change via SNA Manager. If you can make a change then nothing else (no other SNA
Manager) has a lock on the file. Once you've made a change, save the config, then you're sure
nothing else has a lock on it.

I have not had this problem either. I use a program called robocopy to do
scheduled backups and made sure the task in task scheduler is running under
an account that has admin rights on the SNA primary server. If you are able
to backup the file on the backup servers that should suffice as well since
it is really just a copy of the file from the primary.

Latifa,

On addition to this: If you are making a backup, you should always copy the
COM.CFG that resides on the Primary HIS server. The copy on the backups
may not be the newest version of the configuration if they have not
replicatd.
