My config has a single primary site with many secondary sites. All
sites and happy. Each site is configured as an MP. However, clients at
every site still indicate the main site server as thier MP. I'd like
them to point to the server on thier local subnet for thier MP.
Each site has it's own subnet in it's boundaries. The central site
server has it's own, plus a couple subnets that are local to it, and
one subnet that won't get a local server.
I know I'm missing something simple.

I think you are refering to Advanced clients assiging to a Proxy MP at
a Secondary Site. Doesn't work that way, AdvCli assign to an MP at a
Primary site, but do communicate with PMP's for policies and uplevel
communications.

check out this MS FAQ, look at the "Clients at Secondary Sites"
section
