Inventory Dell Server serial number

I seem to be having problems getting the serial number off my Dell Poweredge
Servers running Windows 2000 (and NT 4.0, I think). I have no problem
getting it off Compaq W2K Proliant Servers. Has anyone encountered this
problem? Or does anyone know how to fix this?
I am using SMS 2.0 SP 3 over W2K SP2.
