I do like some of the features of PatchInstall.exe and want to
customize it. Does anyone have any documentation on it ?

Does anyone know the switches that I can use with PatchInstall.exe ?

Here is what I am trying to do. If anyone has any suggestions feel
free to post them....

I am setting up 2 Series of Collections for Patches. One Collection
will be for Servers and the other will be for Workstations as so...

Servers
MS03-007 (S)
MS03-010 (S)

Workstations
MS03-007 (W)
MS03-010 (W)

I use the Software Updates Download Wizard to download the patches
from Microsoft and create the Package. I want to change the
"Programs" under the Advertisement so that I have one for
Workstations and one for Servers.

The Patches applied to servers will be sent Not Mandatory. It will be
up to the server administrator do go to the server and apply the patch
from the Advertised Programs Icon.

The Patches applied to workstations will be sent out at night after
Quality testing in our lab.

I want to be able to customize the PatchInstall.Exe part of the
Software Updates Download Wizard. So if anyone has any documentation
please feel free to let me know. Especially information about the
switches that it can take and how to use them.

Thanks
Lenny

I replied to another post in this newsgroup with all the switches, the post
is called "SU Feature Pack Issues Revisited". You can't directly customize
patchinstall.exe but you can utilize it as a tool. I'll be posting an
article in the next couple of weeks on www.myitforum.com on how to do this
(I had to do a similar thing recently and spent months working with
Microsoft on it so I can save you headaches).

I'd suggest reading through the DSUW help files to get more information on
patchinstall.exe switches. Also look here:

Richard Thanks for the Post !

Several people on MyItForum have posted asking for this information
(myself included)

It would be great if you could also post that information for the
folks over at MyItForum. We have been posting to the Feature Packs
Forum and several of us are going out of our minds :-)

I can't belive you found all those switches ! Yeah !

No problem. I'll be doing some articles on setting up and troubleshooting
the Sync Tool, Scan Tool, DSUW, etc. Plus detailed breakdowns of how they
work. Just haven't had time to bang them all out just yet but hopefully I
can have the first one up for everyone in the next couple of days.
