Hi all.

I have a windows xp computer with the SMS admin console installed.

When I start the console with the built in firewall enabled I can't list
collections etc...
If I disable the firewall everything works fine.
So does anyone know which ports that needs to be opened?

/Martin

I have been doing testing with XP SP2 where the firewall is enabled by
default. In that scenario you must add
%systemroot%\system32\wbem\unsecapp.exe and port 135 to the firewall to
enable SMS admin UI to function. Prior to SP2 I don't believe you can add
apps, just ports so I'm not sure what the full answer would be. SMS admin
UI rides on WMI which in turn rides on DCOM for communication. We do Async
WMI calls which is where the firewall comes into play (the call goes out but
the admin UI machine becomes a DCOM server for the returning response and
that response is blocked by the firewall). I would suggest trying 135 and
looking at KB 826852 for more port info as a start.
