Buy the TT Mobile Package, copy the contents of the supplied 128Mb MMC to
your current card to your Mini-SD. Insert the Mini-SD to auto-install.
You'll also need the Traffic Update from TomTom's website to enable TT
Mobile to function with a C500.

doesn't mention needing the Traffic update to work with a C500...? From the
TomTom website it would appear that the Traffic side of things is a
separate, optional, add-on for Mobile rather than a requirement per-se. Its
subscription-based which would make it being a requirement rather than
option a little hard to market I'd assume...

Buy a bluetooth GPS or a wired GPS reciever for around £90.

Go to a bit torrent site and download Tomtom for smartphone.

Get the crack or the serial number for it.

And away you go. Money saved!

TomTom is provided for the E200. However, the 'Traffic' version on the
TomTom site (http://support.tomtom.com/traffic/software/ttm_sp.zip) is
compatible with the C500 (although the TomTom site doesn't say so). You can
choose just to down load it (assuming you
have a TomTom product code) and use it, to sign up for the one month trial of
GPRS traffic downloads, or to buy the Traffic service (£20 for the year as a
special pre-Christmas offer).

I tried the Traffic product - but didn't really get on with it. I let
someone else who was going to Center Parcs use the rest of the one month
trial. I'll see how he gets on, but I'm quite happy just using the straight
product. It's a true killer app - I wouldn't be without it - worth every
penny of the licence.

FYI.

TomTom comes on a 128MB SD card,
The content fills 118MB

I'd recommend using a 256MB miniSD as a minimum though as the traffic update takes a few meg and there's no point getting a mini-SD and having no space for other apps!

Some of your best friends are geeks...you must be one as well then.

Hey cock nosher! I never said that I downloaded it!

Got a job and earn more money than you thanks. He asked what he had to do
to get Tom Tom working on his phone. My answer would get Tom Tom working on
his phone so don't start crying when I answer a question truthfully.

The TT Mobile software will not work with the C500 unless you install the TT
Traffic Upgrade, there is no necessity to subscribe to the Traffic service
but you can make use of the free 30 day trial. You need the update to allow
use of the software with a C500, it will not work without.

You have to create a user account and login to TomTom's Support Pages. It's
easily located under TT Mobile there :)

Install is straight forward but don't overlook the fact that the C500 uses
Mini-SD whereas TomTom will come supplied on a 128MB MMC. You will need to
buy a 128MB or larger Mini-SD and copy the TT Mobile installation files to
it.

The TT Mobile Traffic Upgrade is a manual download from TomTom's website,
you install via Active Sync from your PC not over GPRS.

Thanks for that. I received my Tom Tom installled everything onto my mini sd
card registered it then downloaded the traffic update and activesync to my
phone. Unfortunately the menu option is stil dimmed out i had a look at th
manual and i cant see why this is the case. Does it need a gps connection
for this? I would haave thought not as it its updated over my gprs
connection. If it does i will have to wait to test this out because although
i installed all my software when i plugged the gps receiver into my car via
the supplied charger there was a smell of burning from the receiver and off
it went, so i am awaiting a replacement. Still it gives me a chance to a
have a really good look at the software which on first thoughts looks bloody
good.

Another question if you dont mind is do you know of a way to delete any of
the recent destination lists, obviously during the testing i have built up a
list of useless routes but i cant see how to delete them.

You can't delete the destination history but it will be flushed as you input
new routes.
