Hi,

I've just set up a brand new SBS 2003 server/domain on a brand new server. I
set up SBS 2003 R2 Premier w/ SQL Server 2005 and ISA 2004 on the server. The
server is also running DHCP, DNS, WINS, IIS, Exchange on it.

My problem is that I'm not able to join any client to this new domain. I
tried both using the http://<servername>/connectcomputer wizard as well as
the regualar method for adding a computer to a domain. Nothing worked.

If I use the wizard, I'm able to see connect to the server, see the computer
account I've created along with user accounts. However, after trying to join
my client to the domain, I get an error that says something like there was an
error creating network configuration, please see your network administrator.

If I try to just join the computer to the domain the usual way i.e. right
click my computer, change network name to domain, I get "Network path not
found" error.

What could be the issue here? Thank you for all your help.

Please see the inconfig data down below.

Sam

Hello,

You will get a better responce in microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs

Is the Ipconfig/all you supplied from the server ?
I assume the PC's are getting DHCP leases from the server ?
Can you please add the http://servername to the trusted sites in IE and
rerun the connect computer wizard ?

Thanks

Hi Sam,

In addition to Michael's suggestions, run an ipconfig /all from your client
PCs and ensure they are using the internal NIC of the SBS box as their DNS
server and see if you can ping the Small Business Server by name from one of
the client PCs.

I had the same problem and spent a great many hours trying all the advice I
could find on the web.

In the end it turns out the about 15 of the services on the client machine
had been disabled by the former admin. Many of which were required to
complete the operation.

Once I returned them to their default states eveything went smooth as silk.

It had nothing to do with the DNS, DHCP or server settings.

Hope this will help others.

So sorry for the multi-posts. Every time I clicked "Post" I got a message
back saying that there was a problem and that my message was NOT posted.

I had just set up ISA on this server and figured it was getting in the way
somehow.

Then I just tried hitting refresh and they all showe up.
