Hello.

We have a Dell Poweredge 800 with two Seagate Barracuda ST380013AS SATA
drives. Connected to motherboard with blue SATA cable in SATA 0 and SATA 1.

We are considering buying a 1TB SATA drive.

Does anybody have any recommendation for a HDD?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks,
Tony

Why wouldn't you stick with another Seagate
Are you sure the board will handle a drive that big?

Hello Chris.

Thanks for your help.

I started looking at Seagate drives and asked this question on the Seagate
forums. I got a reply from one person who recommended something, but other
repliers implied that Seagate is not that reliable. I started to look around
and thought i'd ask other SBS2003 users.

Well, i guess all the HDDs will have something that somebody won't like.
Youre right. Maybe i should just stay with a Seagate.

Anyway, i just checked with Dell support and they said that our motherboard
will not handle a 1TB HDD.

Does that mean that i can't buy a 1TB HDD and partition it into two 500MB
drives?

Thanks,
Tony

Yup..that's what it means
Maybe it's time to consider a new server.
If space is an issue and you're on a technology that's 7 years old

Thanks for your help Cris.

Our server works. We just need more HDD space.

Maybe a NAS is a better solution then?
