Task List - Connect to Oultook breaks Assigned To name

Greetings!

Running WSS 3.0, when I connect a Task List to Outlook 2007, the
Assigned To names get changed in the Outlook view. Instead of the
usual "Doe, John", a second comma gets added in-between the last name
and first - "Doe,, John".

They look normal in SharePoint. It's just in Outlook that they
change.This breaks the ability to see tasks assigned to me under
certain Outlook views, or to have them appear in the To-Do bar.

This started happening after rebuilding my computer and reinstalling
Office. They had looked and worked normally in Outlook for a couple of
years before then.

Any ideas why they change?
