Hi Everyone!

Has anyone successfully migrated there site from one server to another?

Has anyone else had the same problems?

Microsoft says it can be done in the document "Migrating STS from one server
to another". I have tried the documentation but it doesn't work. The
import/export function in SQL 7.0 doesn't work for the sts db.

We have successfully used the publish function to migrate
sites from an internal server to unifiedwebmedia on a
number of occasions.

We had a few problems to start with but as long as you
ensure that the server that is currently hosting, the
client you are publishing from and the server you are
publishing to all have SP1 on then it all seem to work
fine - including data (touch wood).

I know that others in the newsgroup have said not to use
the publish function but as it is working Ok for us I
think we will kepp using it until it doesn't.

I agree. The catch 22 is if the ISP has SP1 installed and is hosting on SQL
2000. Valueweb and MS bCentral both said that SQL 7.0 won't export/import
STS db's. My current host is hosting on SQL 7.0.
