We have a customer that wanted to port over their existing portal (run on
IBM WebSphere Portal Server) to Microsoft SharePointPortal 2003, I tried
search around for any articles or guide regarding this task, but can't
really find any.

This tool maybe of some help to handle the backend data conversions between
applications; its called ecKnowledge.

TMK, there is no migration path from Websphere to SharePoint.
