I'm running MOSS 2007 in a multifarm environment.

Searching was working until I expanded the scope.

Now, crawling,...,ranking seems to hang for hours, if not days.

Everything else works fine.

Display:
Indexing status: Computing ranking
Items in index: 496
Errors in log: 0
Content sources: 1 defined (Local Office SharePoint Server
sites)
Crawl rules: 2 defined
Default content access account: m-r\dev_content
Managed properties: 127 defined
Search alerts status: Inactive
Propagation status: Idle

Is there a way I can get the Search to work again?

Thanks much for your help,

Douvo L.

I couldn't find anybody with an answer so I uninstalled MOSS 2007 on my index
and search servers, reinstalled MOSS 2007, and then added them again to my
farm. It all worked after that.

Don't know how or why they got corrupted but it was a pain.

I hope this helps,

I had the same problem when I tried to add a new Index Server to a MOSS 2007 enterprise installation (4 WFE + 1 APP/CA/Index + SQL Cluster)

What I did to fix it was to click the "Reset all crawled content" link in the "Configure Search Settings" page. The Indexer status went to Idle and I was able to crawl afterwards.
