Document Migration

Greetings,

Can anyone give me any feedback on methods of document migration from a file
server to Sharepoint. I have tried the trial version of DocIT but find it
slow. Are there any better methods for performing this mass migration. We
have approximately 30,000 documnets to migrate.

Ummmmm.................

I'm wondering if you really need all 30,000 of those documents in the
portal.

Generally, I recommend that if a document needs one of the following, then
put it in the portal:

1. Versioning
2. Approval routing
3. Collaboration

Otherwise, I see little reason to put a document in the portal. I suppose
you could add categorization/metadata to the list, but with the ability to
index the document externally, this aspect is not as important, IMHO.
