Understanding MOSS Search

Hi,

We are trying to understand the results we are receiving when we are
using MOSS Search. We would like to know the following:
1. Does index work on all the document content or only on the
metadata? to my understanding it works on all the document data. If
so:
2. Does the search work with an "AND" between all the search phrases?
For example, if I'm searching for "Product A Version 5 Weekly
Reports", will I get only the weekly reports for that product with the
specific version? Because it seems like I'm receiving weekly reports
for other versions.

And my last question, does anyone know how to work with Wild Cards in
MOSS Search?
