I've created a couple of fields using a feature. I've then created adocument
library that uses these fields. When I create a document in Word, one of the
fields - a single line of text type - doesn't appear in the properties bar at
the top of the page.

I've tried it on another server and it seems to work fine. The only
difference is that on the faulty one, I was activating/deactivating,
installing/uninstalling the feature several times to test various different
attributes.

Anyone have any idea how I can get the thing working properly?

Hi Js,

From your description, you found that on one of your sharepoint server, the
"new document UI" will not include some of the single line text field when
creating a document in the library, correct?

As for the "new document UI", do you mean the microsoft office(word)
application user interface? If you use the sharepoint web interface to edit
those properties, do they properly appear in the properties edit form? One
thing you can try is using sharepoint designer to open those edit/create
form(aspx) of the document library and compare them with the ones on other
servers(which work correctly) to see whether there is any particular
difference.

Sincerely,

you are correct in thinking it is Word 2007 in which the field does not
appear. It's fine in the View or Edit Properties on the web page.

Any ideas?

Is anybody going to answer this?

Hi John,

If the same document lib works correctly on some client machine, then it is
likely the client-side office application that cause the behavior.
For the Office client application have you checked the version of it to see
whether it has been patched with latest updates or is it the same version
as on other machines(where the new document UI behaves correctly)? You can
also try repair the office client components to see whether it helps.
